How do I license my images? – 500px Support Center

Follow this guide to get started:

1) Join the 500px community

If you’re not yet a 500px member, join our engaging community of over 13 million photographers by setting up an account on 500px.com. It’s totally free to sign up for 500px and start licensing your photos!  Becoming a member allows you to share your photos with the community, discover photographs, gain exposure, and license your photos through our exclusive distribution partners.

2) Review the Contributor Licensing Agreement

Take a look through the Contributor Agreement located here

If everything looks good in the Contributor Agreement, you can enable licensing in your Licensing Settings

Note: You can also disable licensing under your Licensing Settings, however, if you do decide to disable licensing, it’s important to understand the terms of photo removal outlined in the Contributor Agreement. There is a period of 180 days where it is still possible for your photos to be licensed through our distributors, and we use this period to successfully complete any transactions that are already underway.

3) Upload your photos

Photographs uploaded to 500px are always protected and no one will be able to access your high-res photos unless licensed through our distribution partners.

4) Submit your photos!

Simply visit your Photo Manager, select the photo(s) you’d like to submit, and enable the “Licensing” option in the right-hand sidebar. Make sure to provide high quality keywords so that your photos can be searched and include model releases for photos that have recognizable people. Then click Save.

5) You’re Done!
Please keep in mind that it can take some time for our editors to inspect images submitted for Licensing, as they work in the order that the photos are submitted. You will only receive a notification from our editors if there are changes required to your images before they can be approved for licensing (image too small, not enough keywords, model release required, etc.). You will also receive notifications whenever your photo(s) are licensed and you’ll be able to review your sales and request payouts in your Licensing Settings.
